With a similar eclectic mix of bases and base finishes. I guess that comes from decades of miniature collecting/painting, without any set plan and changing tastes and ideas, for me at least. :) Fitz-Badgerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15510866929782142007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4798056059089761235.post-73755692492263728752021-05-09T07:19:54.276+01:002021-05-09T07:19:54.276+01:00Can’t make up my mind re rules, probably homegrown...Can’t make up my mind re rules, probably homegrown as I can’t find anything that suits my purpose quite. ..tradgardmastarehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13116967655904601740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4798056059089761235.post-6062253158287622432021-05-09T07:18:18.574+01:002021-05-09T07:18:18.574+01:00Me too, my first were Minifigs Ancients, a mix of ...Me too, my first were Minifigs Ancients, a mix of Greeks and Egyptians.tradgardmastarehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13116967655904601740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4798056059089761235.post-71071518563729528462021-05-09T07:17:08.896+01:002021-05-09T07:17:08.896+01:00I really enjoy making old figures battle ready onc...I really enjoy making old figures battle ready once more be it Minifigs, semi flat homecasts or Britains toy soldiers. I've also been collecting these over the last few years - helped a little by the Caliver re-issues. As you probably know, the contemporary ranges that 'fit' most closely are the Alexander Nevsky figures - and the Gondarian Knight on foot is an obvious conversion from that range - and some of the R range Renaissance Ottomans will pass as Harad/Easterners. The V range Vikings is also a good match for Dunlendings, Beornings and such like. Some of the PB/IR Ancients are also worth a look - the original series rather than the late 70's remakes (which are still available). I always think of the S&S (Conan inspired) range as a little later in style - but I know that some folks also mix those in. Either way - lovely to see these old warriors and nice to think of them getting a new lease of life near half a century on.
