 I was at my course in Edinburgh ( week three, great lecturer, fellow students and the early career of Durer, who could ask for more) and took these photos-

Not Minceheim or Mordheim but Edinburgh just off the Canongate.

I have always liked this splendid museum sign for the Museum of Edinburgh 

Some purchases arrived yesterday by courier, just back in time thankfully…

Gifts for my daughters, perhaps to hold tea or even buttons in the years to come…

A couple of item for the household, yet another mug and a biscuit tin…

Tidying and a game.

 Did some tidying at the weekend. Removed the paper pile from the coffee table etc and popped them onto shelves-

Monday saw the continuation of our eight sections a side battle. It ended in a victory for my Swedish Anglican League volunteers and their village allies-

The church yard , one of the objectives, held by the shooting party- all armed with shotguns.

Another objective contended by both the Swedes and their Liverpudlian enemies.

Liverpudlian reinforcements de bus from their makeshift transport and move towards the bridge.

The W. I and gardener allies hold the bridge ( the third objective) against an enemy A/C and section.

The village cricket team charges to drive off the enemy in the vicinity of the bridge.

A spiffing time was had by all players!

 As l had some time over the weekend I set up a game. Here are the rules used and what all buildings were made from-

The start of the game-

The German paratroopers enter the village past the church…

A view over the village showing the hedges and gardens.

The Home Guard enter the village from the opposite side. Some Scouts are with them to act as messengers when required.

The German commander takes up position on the church tower for observation purposes.

Pike and Jones watch what is happening prior to sending a message back to HQ.

The Germans advance into the village…

Fierce fighting ensues both fire fights and hand to hand.

After a time the Germans retreat, perhaps to return another day…
