"And so Gentlemen the first of the new flags for our beloved Duchy! Note the Sun in splendour- the sun that shone upon the Golden Herring all those years ago at the start of Tradgardland! The sun that gives us light and warmth, that makes our crops grow. The same sun that like our Risen Lord rises in the East. Note also the motto that talks of the Light of Faith and Reason, the Light of the Heavens and our role as a beacon of Faith, culture and natural philosophy! Behold the product of the hard work and industry of the women of the Court. Gentlemen take these new colours and serve them well - now and always!"
And with a flourish Duke Karl Frederick sits down ,his speech ended and he basks in the thunderous applause and cheering...
p.s flags made with Microsoft paint package and clip art- printed at the library today. There are more to come over the coming days...
Very pleasant designs and, somehow, quite fitting for a Roman Catholic Duchy.
ReplyDeleteCompliments,
Jean-Louis
PS: Infantry Regiment III, according to 'old' nomenclature?
Touched by the hand of the Duke himself.

Alan,
ReplyDeleteI was reading about the Queen's Trooping The Colours in the UK. It was interesting to read that originally walking flags around was done in front of the soldiers serving under that flag so they would be able to recognize it.
Regards,
Bill
I agree, the flags look good . . . and, Bill, I didn't know that . . . but it makes sense.

Very nice work, Alan. I like using the Paint program to produce regimental colors too.
ReplyDeleteVery nice flags, as a fellow catholic state I applaud your colors,
ReplyDeleteGreat flags! They will inspire your troops and strike fear in the hearts of their foes...
ReplyDeleteVery attractive flags! Well done, sir!
ReplyDeleteVery attractive flags. I especially like the sun motif.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I'm sure if I was a Tradgardlander, I'd be proud to get shot at beneath such colours!

ReplyDeleteYour have stumbled upon half my secret - Paint and Clip Art!
Nice Colours. Is 'Fiat Lux' a State motto? One of my favourites has alwayes been 'Ex Tenebris Lux' (From Darkness, Light)
