A trick of the tail

The newly arrived frei-korps from Wittenburg are drilling in the grounds of the new Duke's country estate in Tradgardland. The men are far from home, eager for plunder and a little bored...
Their long suffering officer ( a former school teacher who embraced his new life with great gusto when he walked away from the village school to make his fortune- still waiting) suddenly sees something moving in the woods. He points, the men go silent and all stare...
Their eyes alight upon a strange figure half goat, half man dancing to his own music. His horned head turns to look at them...
The figure turns and dances off into the forest without a word. The soldiers stunned and amazed follow a respectful distance behind...

Fine weather

It is good to be back online, catch up with emails and the acts of my fellow bloggers. Yesterday I was able to have some painting time in the garden- allowed by the fine weather here in Tradgardland.. You see me working upon the new Duke and Duchess as well as figures from the Court.

Whilst offline I have, amongst other things, been enjoying the cricket from India and will miss this glorious spectacle when it finishes tonight. I dip in and out as circumstances allow and my daughters have become interested too. Lewis on ITV3 continues to provide splendid images of Oxford and good stories as well. I finally succumbed to buying the dvd of " Brotherhood of the wolf" and am really enjoying it.I am only part of the way through but am gripped by the 18th century (!) lain out before me.

Hopefully today will allow further painting ,gardening and diverse pleasures which fine weather facilitate. By the way you can see some 54mm lead lancers galloping across the lawn at my Army Red/White blog...

Still waiting ...

I am still waiting for the figures which will form part of the new Duke's Court to arrive and be painted. I had hoped the post would have delivered them yesterday but he did not. In the interim I am posting pictures of the new figures for the Duchy. They are from Wittenberg. The Duke ( thanks once more Tidders!) has kindly sent his Ducal Band northwards to now be part of the Court in Tradgardland-
They are already the talk of polite society with their dashing uniforms and music fit for all occasions. It is hoped they will be playing at the first parade of the new Duke's reign soon...

Still here...

Still here...just. Rather tired trying to work and do the myriad practical things that need to accomplished. I have enjoyed dropping by your blogs and seeing what you are up to.They represent normality something I feel I have  little of at present. My Lords and Masters at work demand much and always want spontaneity and planned at the same time. Child led yet planned in minute detail beforehand. I am frankly scunnered to use an excellent Scots word.
No painting or gaming done. Some excellent figures and diverse items arrived from Wittenberg for which I am most grateful.I look forward to slotting them in to the Duchy soon. I have sent for some figures for the new Duke and his Court - which I look forward to receiving and working upon. Ideas flit in and out of mind ,plans made  seem pointless after a little while. I feel in a hobby and general  malaise . I wonder wether to start something new to "kick start" me or what .Ideas sought and welcomed...
