Here in the Duchy we love tricornes be they from the 18th century-
Or even the 20th century-
At the moment I have the situation where I am painting 18th century figures without them and planning for 2oth century ones wearing them. Let me explain . Having finished ( for the moment) two forces for avbcw I am getting down to some neglected Old Glory Bordurian/Syldavian militia of the 1760s or so.Scruffy mountain marksmen who mean business and not a tricorne in sight! The other thing on the horizon is the forthcoming 28mm interwar Swedish tricorne clad figures.I can't wait to get some and am thinking through how to use them. I wondered about Norway being invaded as part of an attempt to return it to Sweden...
Any suggestions really welcome.Off to make Jan a Saturday morning cup of tea in bed ,see you later.
In my Imagination the military, the regulars all have tricorns..it´s a must. The militia as far as possible. The civilians as well. As for them being worn in the 20th century..why not? I was thinking the other day. Tricorn touting Imaginations..(is there any other sort of Imagination? :-D) are mostly based date wise around the 18th century..but this is actually quite an arbitary timeline, based on real world dates due to the prominence of the tricorn in that period. Imaginations by thier very nature could have thier citizens wearing tricorns whenever.or?

There are also lots of islands in the Scandinavian area that could be invaded . . . perhaps that more limited campaign might be considered by you.

That is a cool uniform, with the vestigial tricorn! I'm eager to see your Bordurian/Syldavian militia. What are the OG figures you will be using? Turks? Zouaves?

An interesting illustration there. That tricorn works well within the overall uniform. Jeff's suggestion of a limited campaign set on a Baltic island is a good one. Plenty of scope for combined ops too. I read somewhere recently that the Swedish army did land on one Swedish island to suppress an anti-draft uprising during the Napoleonic War.
