Looking for rules suggestions...
I've been in the shed p.m today and found some 20mm homeguard figures and German paratroops.Any suggestions for old school ww2 rules for gaming an airborne invasion ? Years ago when I used WRG platoon rules I dropped wee squares of paper to simulate where paratroops landed- anyone else do this ever? As ever all suggestions welcome.
We have used that method before, along with making paper airplanes that had to be thrown onto a table from a certain distance to simulate glider landings!
ReplyDeleteI've used the method as well.
ReplyDeleteApart from the drop itself, what about Don's fast WW2 rules. Several of my very first war games were played with those.
That method was in Don Featherstone's "Wargaming Airborne Operations", maybe some more idea's there??
ReplyDeleteI think I have played about 4 games with paratroop drops over the years, all using paper dropped from a height. I cannot think of an easier, or better way!
ReplyDeleteI seem to recall a vintage book by Terry Wise that had rules for Ancients, ACW and WW2. Was it something like 'An introduction to Wargaming'. It had lost of pictures of Airfix figures and the Ancients had pictures of Britains elephants. I sold my copy years ago, but you've put me in mind of it again.
ReplyDeleteHave it on the shelf here.I used it a lot for acw airfix gaming in the 1970's .My copy has morale charts etc stuck in handwritten by me then. It does indeed have those splendid elephant conversions and loads of airfix pics.
