Jan , my best friend and beloved wife of 24 years died yesterday. She declined very quickly over the last week. She had fought her illness with immense courage and positivity for five years and is now at her rest.

  1. Just stumbled on your blog as a complete stranger. I am very sorry for your loss. My Mum passed away just over two years' ago and it's one of the worst things in the world to lose someone whom you love. Please accept my heartfelt condolences at this deeply sad time.

  50. Please accept my most sincere condolences, Alan.

I feel this more than most because I am sort of in Jan's position. I also have a cancer, which has now metastasized into my lungs and the chemo doesn't seem to be doing any good. I certainly expect to last a while yet but I do understand that my time will be limited.

Alan, it is important for you and your family to embrace the fact that life does go on.

  52. I am immensely saddened to come across this news - (though I am a complete stranger) the loss of any love diminishes the world. And one that endured so long...

My wife and I have been married 30 years and I will now go and give her a squeeze. She may wonder why but I am sure you will know. Stay strong.
