A plunge taken for better or worse.

I have finally taken the plunge (with some persuasion) and have dived into Facebook. Supported by the technical knowledge of my daughters and others I am live. I hope it will prove a useful tool...

  1. Are you posting about your gaming or is it more private than that?

  3. Not too long ago I also took the plunge. It is far easier to communicate with far-flung family via FB.

  4. Think Facebook has it's place as long as it's not taken to seriously , great for keeping in touch with friends and family

  5. I joined? FB a few weeks ago in order to spread the word about my blog. Frankly I wish I hadnt, people who you tag as 'friends' come from many diverse backgrounds which should be good. However their friends can be an issue especially if they have political baggage to drag along with them. The problem is I cant ignore some of the ridiculous comments that some of these 'friends' like or advocate. My fault probably, but sometimes the rubbish touted as true should be challenged vigorously. So just be aware that you might have opened a portal into all sorts of trouble.

  6. Brave fellow. I am thinking about it because a lot of figure companies and bands I like simply don't update their websites anymore. I was on it once before and was deluged with what can only described as crap from people I assumed were intelligent (eg. Here is a picture of my breakfast etc). and the time it took to sift through such drivel made me give up. I might venture into FB under a pseudonym.

  7. I have a FB account but a number of times I've come close to cancelling it. As Robbie says above, you need to be wary of [Friend] requests and check them out every time. It's okay for keeping up with family and genuine friends, but there's an AWFUL lot of dross, anger and general bad feeling out there, usually connected to politics. Go into it with your eyes wide open.
