A Portable Wargame

Inspired by David in Suffolk and his blog yesterday I brought forth the 20mm figures and set up a game. I had felt really off my game hobbywise last week but am really looking forward to fighting this little set up. I will play it over the next day or so and post battle reports.       Well worth getting hold of and include an Ancients set too. A good read and place to rekindle wargaming. Small set ups needed only just like this.Do buy ,you won't regret it.

    A really interesting skirmish. I suspect that the Home Guard will perform well, but may only be a speed bump in the inexorable German advance.

    The Home Guard and local police look a bit out-gunned but are full of pluck I'm sure.

    Splendid stuff - glad my post nudged you into it!
    I do like your use of the Smith Gun and Northover Projector, the Home Guard had an array of rather eccentric weaponry. On country walks in Essex/Suffolk we have occasionally come across the mountings for 'Spigot Mortars' from the same period. Would they have actually been any use, though? The Home guard was not necessarily the joke outfit we might think of, I'm sure I've read that the average age was only 40-something and many of them had experience from 1914-18, and would have fought hard.

      Fascinating that you have encountered relics of the Spigot Mortar. I enjoy using the Homeguard kit in games, adds local colour and atmosphere. I will rate the Homeguard as average for the game, not poor. I need to look at their rating later...
