I will have a think and try later. I don’t imagine that commercially available flags are produced for these lesser well known units. So any flag making suggestions welcome. On a more positive front this arrived from the splendid folks at Caliver Books-
This is a visually impressive book, well produced with lots of information, scenarios and inspiration for the hobby. I have only begun reading it but I am most impressed so far. So tomorrow will bring some more sorting , rebasing and perhaps another go at the flags. Some sun would be appreciated also.
Great to see the 7YW units get a new lease of life. Re: 7YW flags have a look at the Kronoskaf Seven Year War Project site. It has most units along with their flags. They can be downloaded, resized and printed off. Cheers Greg (Delta Coy)
ReplyDeleteI have gone with this suggestion, tweaked them and printed them off. Currently waiting for glue to dry. Thanks for the suggestion. Much simpler than messing around with pencils etc and they look great.
DeleteDelta Coy beat me to it, if you only get one side of the flag, with a bit of finangling you can 'flip' the picture and get both. Might need some 'cut n' paste'
ReplyDeleteOpened image in “Paint” and sorted it. Thanks for suggestion.
Delete..or Warflag.com site and do the same with theirs... I use the warflag.com flags as templates and change colours as required in Paint...
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me, I have used them in the past.
DeleteTricky things, flags. I used to try copying SYW Russian flags from books and then handpainting them, which looked well enough at the time, though it was hard not to use too much paint. Now that I am older and more prosperous, I just order flags from people like Adolfo Ramos. The Grant book looks splendid He did one on solo wargaming that is sadly OOP, one of my Grail books. Cheers, Michael
ReplyDeleteMichael, Grant did a book on solo wargaming? What is the title? I am very familiar with Featherstone's Solo Wargaming. Could you be thinking of that one?
DeleteSometimes it is hard to get more obscure flags commercially I find. Hand painted isn’t for me I feel but the computer route works well. Do you mean the scenarios book at all?
DeleteThe Grant book does look interesting!
ReplyDeleteWell worth a look and high production values.
