Any requests?
I have the table cleared almost and am wondering what to set up next. I feel a solo game played over the coming days might help with painting taking a back seat. What would you like to see?
I am always ready to hear more stories from the 18th Century, or to see your Semi-Flat Afrika project. Current in Transient Housing, so I cannot even think about cracking open my duffle bags to get to the 1/72nd plastics I've brought to paint.
A Tradgardistan game, something involving Albion 54mm troops, or any Middle Earth game (especially with ents and trolls). Those have always been fun to see and inspiring! I’m also a sucker for medievals! But really, whatever you find fun, play. Maybe an ancients battle based directly on a Biblical text, so you know what the enemy is going to do! I’m in the same situation with gaming right now.
Second the Middle Earth game, always a treat. I too am going through a general hobby malaise at the moment and can't seem to get enthused by anything. I am going to start Napoleonics for the umpteenth time , so the planning of this may get me going again. Look forward to seeing wht you choose.
I play weekly on Zoom and it has worked well. My opponent has one fixed camera on a tripod looking down on the table and uses a mobile phone on a tiny tripod to move around to slow close ups. All works well.
How about a colonial expedition? You could draw a map with some random islands and continents and your European powers set off on a little empire building. You can draw up charts that decide the composition of the natives and their attitude. For example, do they allow your power to set up a base, greet it with hostility, worship the newcomers as gods, contribute native troops etc? Meanwhile the rival power/s are sending their own expeditions. Do they try to colonise the same lands. Are the lands carved up? Does a war result? What do the natives do? You can decide a lot of this stuff by dice rolls before even getting to setting up actual battles. You can do this with a pal or as a solo activity. I'm thinking of doing the same for my Renaissance era imagi-nations. I go further and roll dice to decide levels of development which may be from stone age to medieval. For your natives you can use African tribesmen, American Indians, Aztecs, Asiatic etc etc.

Soon get a chance to peek at the plastic horde, perhaps getting others interested too?

ReplyDeleteBon Chance with the Napoleonics!
DeleteMiddle Earth as well. Always love seeing those in action.
ReplyDeleteNoted and me also.
DeleteThat's a bit spooky Alan.
ReplyDeleteI cleared my table last night to make room for a blog photo session and then cleared it again.
I have a game pending restrictions being eased but I wonder if I should try a SKYPE game with my chum.

DeleteI would love to see more pictures from Semi Flat Africa. Palm trees and generals on zebras. Cheers, Karl
ReplyDeleteI think I might leave it until I paint up the new recruits for the game but we shall see...

Interesting ideas, lots to ponder upon here...
DeleteIf you do a Semi-Flat Afrika colonial expedition, will it be led by Lord Semi-Flat Stanley?
