Spotty Marines for sale anyone?

I am continuing to work on my Airfix, Minitanks idea. I like the idea of painting up some Airfix 1/72 Marines in the spotty camouflage depicted in the photo from Battle ! Practical Wargaming below. Anyone got any to sell or trade?

  1. Tradgardmastare,

I wish that I could help, but I don’t have any Airfix Marines.

That photograph inspired me to paint up a whole load of camouflaged figures for an imagi-nation, and like Charles Grant, I mixed and matched ROCO and Airfix vehicles. One of these was a cutdown Airfix StuG superstructure mounted on a ROCO Sherman chassis. It ended up looking like a Swedish IKV 103 assault gun (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infanterikanonvagn_72#/media/File:19-58-47-ikv-103-pt-sau.jpg).

    All the best,

    Bob

  4. I hope somebody comes up trumps as I didn't have any spare Version 1 US Marines , http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=355
The few that survive from my childhood games are in the process of being rebased. I prefer them to the version 2 which are still available, many scaled down from the 1:32 US Infantry https://uk.airfix.com/products/wwii-us-marines-a00716v

The Version 1s look suitable for Korea, Vietnam, early Cold War Europe and Tintinesque ImagiNations.

    1. The version one were the ones from my youth and they are the ones with a nostalgia drenched draw for me.

  5. These badly moulded copies of Version 2 Airfix US Infantry (and British Paras?) have their own cheap charms too https://poundstoreplasticwarriors.wordpress.com/2020/06/23/the-joy-of-pound-store-play-sets/

  6. I bought some Hong Kong toy soldiers, around 1968, oo.ho size, nice little mouldings. They seem to be mini versions of Britain's khaki infantry.
Moulded in the light blue and I think green.I hsven.t looked at them for some years, difficult to remember. Some were lost in the ssnd, I played with them on the besch, bought on holiday in Scotlsnd.
