Saturday

 Did some gardening, consulted The Hobbit , watched the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final on tv and painted a few figures.

The Annotated Hobbit contains an interesting selection of b&w drawings as well as useful information plus the complete text.
Three Hobbits below including a graphic novel.
An exciting game full of incident and skill. A most enjoyable way to spend part of the afternoon.
I quite like the graphic novel illustrations especially Beorn.
Some inspiration gleaned to take the dbv The Hobbit project forward…

      No doubt you will find the rules you seek in the Runic inscriptions in that arcane and unobtainable tome from the 1960s “Fantasy Wargaming” by F.D. Stonefeather, along with his volumes on “Solo Fantasy Wargaming” ...

    To what end have you been consulting "The Hobbit"? Is this to do with the Fantasy plan you're hatching?

      Consulting your grace in order to prepare some forces for doing biggish skirmishes between eleven, laketown men , dwarves and goblins. Squabbles over wine being traded , treasure claimed and what might have happened if the goblins hadn’t showed up when they did

      It was . My uncle came from St Helens and I have watched rugby league on and off on telly all my life. He was a big fan.

    Out of all the books that I taught in my secondary English education career, without a doubt, "The Hobbit" was far and away the most popular with my students! They truly loved it and so did I!

      That is great to hear. I first encountered the book when my English master began reading it to us in first year. He read enough to get our interest , dramatically closed the book and told us that if we wanted to know what happened we would have to read it for ourselves! I did and that began a life long love of Tolkien.
