Buildings

I like a wander about , a dérive. I particularly like to look at buildings.Recently on such travels l saw these interesting buildings-

The one above is near an entrance to Kelvingrove park. It is a quirky structure with an arts and crafts vibe.
Here is a link to a fascinating leaflet about the history of the park-

Thrill at the monorail over the river Kelvin in 1911 and other undreamed of delights, a fascinating leaflet

These photos are of a modern chapel built onto Georgian houses in George Square, Edinburgh ,by the Dominicans.

  1. Many years ago my office was on the south side of George Square so faced onto the buildings above.

It was often visited by a Dominican priest in full robes on a very underpowered moped and he would go 'put-put-put' up and down the square on a regular basis.

    1. Can you recall his name by any chance? I knew some of them…

  2. That’s a splendid looking former toilet block! It seems to be a thing these days to convert them to cafes.
The park looks a great place for a walk.

  3. A lovely place and splendid building. Just by my place of study there is another former toilet block turned into a cafe. I recall seeing on Grand Designs (?) a former men’s toilet in central London turned into a wee dwelling. You went down the stairs to it and it had retained the glass roof bricks for light.
