Woking

 As ever the Little Wars Revisited forum games day was splendid. Good company, food and games. The games were in 54mm of course-

1. A snowball fight game by Mark with a few role playing ideas contributed by me. Fast, furious fun involving, amongst others, a Nutwood team and a penguin team. 
2. Age of Penda game in 40mm by Anthony with great looking terrain and figures. It was enjoyed greatly by players.
3. NWF armoured train game by Mike with a splendid armoured train as a centre piece. Great scenery and figures using Man who would be king rules.
4. Dark Ages by Patrick using Lion Rampant and his collection of lovely Irregular Miniatures Normans alongside Patrick’s trademark stylish scenery.
5. Smugglers, a game by Brian with very nicely painted figures and a most enjoyable role play element in a four sided skirmish game.

As ever the evening ended with a lovely meal in a Turkish restaurant locally. It was great to catch up with friends old and new and meet folk for the first time whose blogs I read regularly. 

After Woking 2

 Yesterday was my birthday. We celebrated with coffee at Soderberg and  lunch at Tuk Tuk. I got some splendid cards and gifts-

Today has seen me come down with a fluey / coldy thing ( a precautionary Covid test proved negative) unable to do my weekly volunteering commitment and I have slept much of the day whilst listening to the radio in bed. Not that surprising considering my journey home was in very busy tube and trains not to mention the British Museum. Hopefully l will feel better in the coming days and post about Woking and the Little Wars Revisited games day.

After Woking 1

 I left Woking early yesterday to give myself time to do something in London rather than just sit around waiting for the train. The trip between Waterloo and Kingscross went well via the Bakerloo and Northern lines. I was very impressed by the Family Waiting Area in station, something l had not seen before. As I looked in lots of families seemed to be enjoying the facilities. Well done LNER . a link to it -

So l made my way to the British Museum via this splendid complex-

The British Museum was very busy indeed. I popped to see some old friends from near and far-

Just time to sample the delights of the LNER first class lounge prior to boarding the train. A pleasant journey ensued and I was home by 20:50 having enjoyed the hospitality on train and The Divine Comedy ( band not book) on Spotify.

 Finally cleared the permanent table/ former potting bench ready for some games-

Ian Heath

 I was sad to hear of Ian Heath’s death. I have all his WRG titles on the shelves going back more years than I care to mention.His books have given me inspiration and information in equal measure over the many years of my wargaming. One thing I did not know about him was his interest in wargaming in Middle Earth.I read with interest of his large Middle Earth Armies and wonder if anyone knows what figures he used and rules too. Does any have any information on this?

Forgotten sons in the shed

 Looking for something in the shed and I came across these figures-

World War One German infantry and French Chasseurs d’Alpin. Charming flats/zinnfiguren bought on EBay and forgotten about. They will make a nice wee portable Wargame game.

Restoration etc

 Planning a little toy soldier restoring in the coming days…

Doing some reading outwith my normal reading material. Fascinating so far, never look at trees in the same way again.
