It’s in the trees , it’s coming!

Out of the forest a giant figure looms in the dusk.
                                                            It’s in the trees it’s coming…

The villagers flee from the giant unaware that he was entranced by the Carol singing and wanted to join in. He can’t work out why why the people are running away…

The street urchins step up to the plate and throw snowballs at the giant…

The giant retreats into the trees bewildered but keen to find another choir to join elsewhere. The street urchins are fĂȘted by the villagers and it’s mulled wine all round!

A few photos of  very recent skirmish games-

It was only a winter’s tale…

Winter in Albion once more , those street urchins are annoying the lamplighter with snowballs as he goes about his business. The deer have come into the village in search of food and the Vicar is practicing carols outside the rectory. All is peaceful but there may be trouble ahead…

Street urchins amuse themselves with a snowball fight as the lamps are lit..
Carolling practice outside the rectory, the Vicar seems most impressed.
Hoi urchins! Leave the lamplighter alone…
Whatever could disturb this village scene on such a night as this?

Table cleared

Set up the table for a skirmish game this evening. Cleared off the papers, books and buildings. Got out my 60mm War of 1812 figures and set up a wee encounter representing front elements of both armies meeting unexpectedly in the woods…

Sorry about the quality of the photos, room is too dimly lit, will remedy tomorrow with better ones.

Lammings on the workbench

I really like the vibe of medieval Sicily. A melting pot of culture and art. Saracens , Byzantine Mosaics and much more. For that reason l got some Arab figures from Lamming to serve alongside my medieval knights etc. I am not recreating Sicily but using it to inspire my medieval imagination. Here are some pictures that are providing inspiration currently, some figures on the workbench and a fantastic mosaic-

A couple of archers to give me ideas for painting or colour schemes.
Some bow/sword and spear armed troops as well as some javelin armed troops.
An example of the amazing mosaics to be found in Sicily.
Spear/sword armed figures and some archers.
The bowman is particularly of interest in the above picture.

Will post finished figures in the coming days…

Cog question

I vaguely recall seeing an article and/or plans about how to make a medieval cog ship suitable to allow my Lamming figures to put to sea. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Now for a gratuitous old school illustration-
