Forty German paratroopers later and wondering where to go re rules for 1940 Seelowe , not to mention Norway 1940 and “what if” German invasion of Sweden.
Emphasis will be on infantry actions with the odd vehicle rather than tank v tank stuff.
Probably use WTDW this week as we all know the system and read up on Bolt Action anon. Thoughts re Bolt Action?
Their first airborne operations was actually under the attack on Norway (Operation Weserübung). It was during the Norwegian campaign they also experienced their first defeat under the 5 day battle of Dombås:

I do not have much experience with Bolt Action as I've only played the rules once. I think it was a good game though.
I saw 'Went the Day Well?' are streamin on Netflix. I'll think I'll have a look at it.
DeleteDid you watch the film? What did you think of it? It is a classic.

Yes I saw the movie. Keeping in mind that it was made in 1942 I think it was ahead of it's time. It was made to make people aware of the risk of careless talk and 5th columnists I guess?
DeleteIt kind of gave me a 'The Eagle has Landed' vibe. I'm glad I watched it.
Glad you watched it and enjoyed it.

I have played a handful of Bolt Action 2nd ed. and enjoyed most of the games I played. The order dice are my favorite part of the game and are one of my favorite mechanisms to steal and apply to other games for solo play.
ReplyDeleteUnless I've completely misunderstood the rules, all figures in the activated unit must take the same action. It's probably a me thing, but I find that does not fit my thinking for a WWII game with figures individually based. That said, it's not uncommon in games like this, so it's not necessarily a knock on Bolt Action.
You were wise to acquire it in print form! I made the mistake of getting it as a PDF. With 3rd edition released, I hope to pick up a print copy of 2nd edition finally.
I know what you mean re all the same action by all the figures. I too like the dice a great deal.

Good to see that you have proactively painted a platoon of prototype paratroopers (perhaps from the Palatinate or Prussia).
ReplyDeleteKind comments courageously crafted Chris!
