Airfix conversions

One of the joys of second hand figures is the pleasure of seeing the artistry of others. My immediate reaction is not normally to repaint but to try and preserve/improve the work of the former owner. It is a joy therefore to see these-
Excellent conversions of Airfix cowboys to act as officers for Hilton Hunt zouaves. I am delighted to field such as these.

  1. I couldn`t agree with you more. I absolutely love picking up second hand things that have already been painted, and like you, I try to preserve what has gone before.. and merely `touch up` a bit where needed. I also like digging out (when I stumble across these gems) figures from my past... and with these too, I don't throw them out of sight in disgust.. I cherish them, and try and preserve them with some TLC. Of course, they end up being used in my games, and proudly so, alongside all my new stuff. Old and new, its all good, and all appreciated immensely. There is no such thing as bad painting, only interesting and old school.

  2. What's an old Airfix army without a few conversions? Definitely to be preserved and used!

  3. It does seem something of a lost art nowadays with the vst selection of figures available...
