Great minds think...

Only the other day I had been musing about using Scandinavian Bronze age chaps for Lion Rampant, I had even left a comment on " I live with cats" regarding the matter. Now I discovered ( happily over coffee  at my daily blog review this morning) that Dan Mersey has just published a list for Dragon Rampant for this period
merseybooks: Dragon Rampant: Hyperborean Northern European Bron...: Dragon Rampant, my big skirmish fantasy wargame, allows you to take to the battlefield at t he head of a warband of around  50–70  models...

Yet another distraction to follow, can't wait...

  1. Insane minds think alike then... I as well have had some ideas about Bronze-age wargaming (altough with a fantasty twist).

  2. I have no idea just how much time and how many dreams and schemes centered on these pages in my youth.

    1. A book I have had since around 1973. I too loved to look at it.Imagine my excitement around 25 years ago when we went to Copenhagen and saw lur horns etc in the flesh, sorry bronze,in the national museum. Add bog bodies, Poul Anderson's story "The sword" ? and I was hooked.

  3. I spent an hour and a half last night searching for figures to use for Irish for this period along with Heros from the mythology after reading his post. Already the plan for 2017 begins to change.

    2. Alternative Armies seem to have the only specific range. Many other Celtic ranges could work. Much of what I found were Dark Age ranges which could work for the Fenian cycle.

    2. Just bought a copy thanks. I love the Look and Learn style paintings.... all the soldiers look as if they have stepped out of a 1950's office and put on funny clothes.

  5. I've never thought about the Bronze Age, but it seems like a great idea. Sort of like Saga, it may leave some fun scope to mythologize the deeds and heighten the powers of the combatants.

I love this uniform book and the 16c to 20c version - once borrowed and pored over (and occasionally painted on - whoops!) from the local library, I now own these exact same library originals when they were sold off. A really dangerous bedside book. Endlessly fascinating and inspiring ...
