Upon my return...

When I got home from work today a pleasant surprise awaited me-
They read very well and the layout is excellent. The rules look straight forward and great fun. The sample companies are a most interesting mix and include some conflicts that may well be less well known to readers. The authors are to be congratulated on their hard work which will help broaden the appeal of Pike and Shot wargaming. Do not hesitate to buy them they will give you some great games I am sure.

One of my targets for 2017 is to spend less upon the hobby both in terms of lead and books. For this reason I am going out to the shed  (unlit unfortunately) to see what figures can be pressed into service- probably ECW in Scotland or maybe the  Bishop's Wars but we will see. I wish to carry on a separate Old School Minifigs ECW/TYW grid based project. Taking this into account and my new blog it looks like 2017 will have a 17th Century flavour to it.

  1. Thanks for posting, Alan.
It's arrived a couple of weeks sooner than I was expecting. I'll tell the chaps in Perth. We've been much taken by Lion Rampant and are hoping these will be in the same vein. If they are, the chaps may well be rolling out some big GNW figures soon.

A follow up question, if I may. Are units of 6 and 12 figures like LR, and do they have separate pike and shot units?

    1. Indeed separate pike and shot units each with 12 minis. All infantry are 12 minis except for detatched shot and Forlorn hope that are 6 minis. All cavalry and dragoons are 6 minis.

  2. I'm really looking forward to them myself. I treated myself to the Kindle edition because I thought they would arrive sooner than the physical edition, which I ordered from Book Depository. We shall see.

Actually do they have the "fail an activation roll, turn over" mechanic from LR?

    1. Yes the fail and turbiner are still in use, But all officers give +1 om all activations within 12" as the give +1 for morale.
