eBay purchase

These arrived today. I got them because of the nurses and the pigs particularly. I was intrigued by the nurses , I assume the third one is a nurse too? The pigs are charming and I look forward to painting them up. The others bits and bobs are fine. The horse is slightly odd and I am interested in what make the wee animals are.

  1. The third lady is not a nurse but a milkmaid at her bucket.

  2. Milkmaid but depending on the age of the scenario,
    A) a nurse with the amputation bucket full of blood and limbs ... batttlefield medicine
    B) 1960s Carry On Film, tired joke about Bed Baths.

Crescent prewar kneeling nurses, Britain's prewar and Post War milkmaid, John Hill Johilco bugler, Britain's WW2 troops?

  4. Aha I thought the nurses looked like the Crescent style, glad to hear it from someone who knows something about such things.

Are you sure that's a horse and not a mule?

    Anyway, nice haul!

    1. I usually check through Norman Joplin's brilliant Great Book of Hollowcast Figures for ID and various James Opie books on Britain's as well as the Andrew Rose book on Toy Soldiers.

    2. A mule, makes a lot of sense when I look at it now, but from where and by whom?

  5. We do a recast of the crescent Nurse and I have a new version of it converted by Giles Brown to be more WW2 looking which needs releasing soon...
