This afternoon I took some of the figures out of the Dettol. It had worked really well. A scrub in hot water with a tooth brush and they were ready for the first coat of paint. I am pleased with the detail revealed by the stripping back of old paint.
Dettol works very well doesn't it !
ReplyDeleteAlready ordered the next bottle...
DeleteDettol usually works well - I sometimes have figures where it doesn't, but certainly my go-to method.
ReplyDeleteGood work. Any stubborn paint can be removed with Mr Muscle oven cleaner, but it looks as if the Dettol worked well on these flats.
ReplyDeleteI haven’t tried Mr M but will make a mental note.
DeleteGlad that the Dettol worked cleanly this time. It sometimes leaves a sticky mess which is hard to remove.
ReplyDeleteVigorous scrubbing with soapy hot water and an old tooth brush worked wonders on the gunk that was left!

ReplyDeleteSpotted some Askari type flats on Brian Carrick's website, photos of figures at a collector's fair that may be of passing interest. https://toysoldiercollecting.blogspot.com/2014/08/german-east-afrika-in-40mm.html?m=0
