Out of Dettol ready for painting

This afternoon I took some of the figures out of the Dettol. It had worked really well. A scrub in hot water with a tooth brush and they were ready for the first coat of paint. I am pleased with the detail revealed by the stripping back of old paint.

  1. Dettol usually works well - I sometimes have figures where it doesn't, but certainly my go-to method.

  2. Good work. Any stubborn paint can be removed with Mr Muscle oven cleaner, but it looks as if the Dettol worked well on these flats.

    1. I haven’t tried Mr M but will make a mental note.

  3. Glad that the Dettol worked cleanly this time. It sometimes leaves a sticky mess which is hard to remove.

    1. Vigorous scrubbing with soapy hot water and an old tooth brush worked wonders on the gunk that was left!

Spotted some Askari type flats on Brian Carrick's website, photos of figures at a collector's fair that may be of passing interest. https://toysoldiercollecting.blogspot.com/2014/08/german-east-afrika-in-40mm.html?m=0
