Naval battle @ Scarborough 1962
Thought some of you might enjoy this. I remember it from childhood holidays later in the Sixties-
Went to Scarborough on holiday for many years in the 60's and 70's as a kid and the highlight of the holiday was going to watch Naval Warfare at Peasholm Park.
Saw it a few years ago - still going strong. This year it's on from 22nd July to 6th September, Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 3pm. When I first saw it it was only on on alternative weekends. https://www.discoveryorkshirecoast.com/discover/whats-on/peasholm-park-naval-warfare-battle-of-peasholm-p1369211
Gosh - that brings back many memories of family holidays in Scarborough in the 1960s. Loved going to see the show in Peasholm Park. I'm glad to hear it still happens too!
A small boy’s dream! I remember seeing one of these shows on TV. Was never lucky enough to go to one.

ReplyDeleteDo you remember the park lit by nightlights at night too?
DeleteDo you recall the park illuminated at night with many lights in coloured lights in glass jars fixed to wooden structures in shapes like peacocks?

DeleteI'm not sure we saw the park at night; I certainly can't summon up any memories of it like that. A pity; I would like to have seen it!
DeleteCheers,
David.
Love it !
