North Tradgardland ski troops
Based these North Tradgardland ski troops this afternoon. North Tradgardland has Norwegian vibes about it. These ski troops are light infantry and some will pull a light gun on a sledge as artillery support.
Bought as they are - https://www.stevebarbermodels.com/store/Norwegian-Napoleonic-c58807401 Lovely models with charm about them. Looking forward to seeing them in a bigger game… Alan Tradgardland
Great stuff! Certainly a different twist on Napoleonics. They look very versatile figures. They look like you could get away with using them throughout the 19th C and maybe early 20th. Or maybe even Swedish troops for the Russo-Swedish War of 1808-09 if they used any ski troops? Chris/Nundanket
The Norwegians certainly did in 1809 against the Swedes but don’t know if they were used by the Russians or Finns. I have used some 1808 Swedish artillery figures with this project and they blend in pretty well with the 1790 stuff. Alan Tradgardland
Very nice indeed, very unusual unit, should be fun to use them on the table.
ReplyDeleteThanks, they are something a tad different and great fun too. Must set up a game soon…

Interesting figures, were they ski conversions or did you buy them as is?

They look very cool - I had thought they might be MLS but see above that they are not!
ReplyDeleteCool seems an appropriate word indeed!

Excellent! These are the things that add character to an army.
ReplyDeleteI do like characterful units I have to say. In later periods I am very partial to bicycle troops in both 54mm and smaller scales.
