Airfix catalogue 1971

I found this in my magazine box files over the weekend and had forgotten I still had it. It was my Airfix catalogue from 1971 complete with the Moringside, Edinburgh stamp of Donray a well known toy shop at the time. I don’t know why I bothered to write the obvious on the cover as a boy. Let me know if you are interested in seeing more pages. I ,for one, had forgotten about the 1/12 figures but on seeing them remembered that I had owned a couple of the kits.

    A blast from the past there! , as a teenager there where about four shops in my local town sold Airfix kits - Woolworths , a model shop and at least two paper/sweet shops - all gone now of course . The fun to be had thumbing through these catalogues planning one's next purchase .

      I still miss the physicality of catalogues as opposed to online looking when it comes to Wargame figures etc.

    I think the British WWI moulds are still going strong (or rather OMG are they still using them)!

      Thanks. Online Mass going is becoming almost normal but it was a slightly odd day especially as we normally host an extended family meal on Easter Day and have done so for years. Scrabble is always fun, hope yours went well.

    Splendid... I remember having catalogues from round then.. I definitely remember building the Black Prince and Richard the Lionheart... was there an Anne Boleyn added later as well????

      I had Cromwell, the black prince and another I think. They looked good on my bedroom cabinet back in the day and were fun to build and paint.

    Excellent stuff. I had all of the HO/OO ranges displayed - though those older versions of the WWII sets were passed down. Would love to see more posts from the catalogue.

    Some of the figures in the original WWII sets were pretty awful by later standards. But boy did we have fun. Happy days.

      More posts coming up. I must confess to liking the older versions of the Airfix ww2 figures. Probably that’s related to those being the first I had,the book Battle! practical wargaming and the simple lines of these figures.I like the way they are painted with just flesh and brown rifles.
