I got this box some years ago with its contents. I have kept them in there, returning the figures back after them being used. Very recently K sent me some charming figures that had belonged to his aunt in the shape of a goose girl and three geese. I was delighted to receive them. They will be safely stored in the box and become part of the collection. Thank you K.

... and the TALL
These splendid 70mm figures were part of the recent haul. They are a mix of large scale Schneider and some very heavy and slightly cruder figures. I’ve started on the heavier figures who will be painted in a style similar to those in the picture I was given painted. As for the big Schneiders half will be painted feldgrau and half cornflower blue. They will be used in skirmishes and may even have a role with the Scout figures.

An unexpected parcel- further in..
It was very exciting working my way through the layers and the reveal eventually of this treasure trove of semi flats! The picture with diverse figures were the first out the box, l subsequently re photographed the figures more systematically. I was very taken with the big cannon and mounted Indians with pistols , neither have I got. The other cavalry will fit in well with those I have currently. The other picture is of what I think are all Schneider figures. They will fit nicely into various projects. I am particularly taken by the stags and rabbit. There are some Russian infantry ( ?) which will go well with my Cossacks l painted last week. More pictures tomorrow...

It was thirty years ago today...
Thirty years ago today or so I attended the funeral of a friend. He had been one of the celebrants at our wedding and someone who gave good advice as well as being excellent company. In order to help get through the days post funeral I started to build a rockery where I was living at the time. The rough map and plant list are from then as well as the book.
Very recently I started on a wee rockery here in the Duchy. I have loved Alpines for years and have some containers filled with them but wanted a rockery too. I had been removing turf for this project some time ago and getting ready. So on May Day the girls and worked together on it. It was diverting and enjoyable and a good project in light of our recent bereavement. It brought back memories too of all those years ago and my friend. The project is not finished but has made a good start, perhaps I will complete in the post funeral days this time too...
An unexpected parcel, well today anyway
