RBGE

We are so lucky having these fantastic gardens in Edinburgh- Know as the Botanics. I have been coming here all my life. It is a special place which seems infinitely bigger than its actual size. Monday saw a birthday picnic there and my first visit since Covid began. The sun shone.

  1. Indeed a wonderful place, Alan, and even during the hours of darkness I've seen an amazing light show there.
And it would appear that belated happy birthday wishes are in order! So pleased that you managed to get out and have a super day.

    1. I’ve seen pictures of the light show but never been. It was my youngest’s birthday but the day was slightly diminished by my eldest no5 being well enough to go.

  2. My most favourite Uncle was head gardener in the Botanics. There was nothing he didn't know about orchids. Sadly he's gone now.

    1. I bet he was a fascinating man to talk to. A lovely place to work.

    2. His war service stories made great listening although a bit gory. He served in the RAF at sea on Air Sea Rescue launches. Patrolled the beaches in Normandy and spent a long time just picking bodies out the water.

  10. Used to enjoy taking my son there. Often spoiled by grumpy parkies though.
