Stirling 1

I didn’t want to mope around yesterday and had decided to take a couple of buses to Stirling . I had booked a slot at the castle with my membership ticket. Stirling was where I went for a weekly day off around the mid eighties. Lunch out, second hand book shops and a wee wander, it served me well back in the day. Anyway I was keen to see the tapestries in the Queen’s Inner Hall as well as the new displays. Here are some pictures taken at the Castle-

  4. Fabulously ornate and a fine distraction - I’m still not sure if I’m looking at a costumed interpreter standing very very still or a fine waxwork?

    1. She is a costumed, in roll , interpreter. There was a another , a man, in the next room. The both added much to the visit. The visit was a fine distraction indeed. The ornate look of it all was very engaging too.

  5. That's a spectacular location! Wonderful. As others have said, looks like a great place to visit; a pity I am in the English Midlands! Oh well, perhaps one day...

    Cheers,

    David.

  6. Very nice indeed. I have visited Edinburgh Castle several times over the years but only made it Stirling the once and don't really recall much about it now, to be honest. Perhaps a repeat visit is in order next time I am "home"?

  7. I've been to Stirling twice. The first time I was able to visit the castle and see the great views of the surrounding countryside from up top, and all. The second time I was with a friend and due to railway strikes we arrived later in the day than planned, too late to get into the castle. But we did have a really nice meal at a local restaurant. Fond memories in any case. :D
