This morning I took a lovely autumnal walk to the Post Office to collect a couple of parcels-
My one contained this , to be used in conjunction with Mark’s Little Soldiers-
Used to have one as a boy but it is long since gone. Looking forward to seeing this in action…
Lovely old Airfix kits... The castles are still some of my favourite models.
ReplyDeleteMine too, especially the Roman Fort.

Always wanted one of these as a kid .
ReplyDeleteI think Airfix features/featured high on everyone’s wants list.
DeleteThere is a real blast from the past, I never had one but my mate did and we shared our Airfix collections so did have great fun with this model.
ReplyDeleteI do like the share aspect of this comment, very much.

Fantastic old Airfix model and I am in exactly the same position as Donnie...I had the coastal defence kit and my neighbour had this one!
ReplyDeleteTeam work again , excellent.

Hurrah for the good old pontoon bridge, I've got one of those in the loft!
ReplyDeleteTime to dig out for the D Day dodgers project?

Now that’s a great start to the week (including the lovely walk)!
ReplyDeleteLike many others, I had this kit. Very flexible. The pontoons even got pressed into service as invasion barges for Operation Sea Lion.

Walk was lovely. I have been thinking of the many potential uses for this set too. Do you remember the Airfix Magazine Seelowe articles with plans of date boxes as invasion barges?

I can't help thinking that for true retro wargaming, only the products that were available from Airfix should be used.
ReplyDeleteNow there’s a thought!

Lucky fellow.
ReplyDeleteTo have the bridge.
And be within walking distance of a post office!
Ronnie
Doubly blessed indeed.

Very nostalgic! A blast from the past indeed. Airfix rather defines those of us of a certain age... And a very enjoyale and scenic walk to collect it too. :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers,
David.
It does define us indeed. A lovely walk it was too.
