Next month sees a family wedding where l will be father of the bride. It has been a roller coaster of emotions and plans for us all but we are getting there. I also have been thinking of what l feel like doing hobby wise currently.
On a bus on Friday in the midst of thunder , lightning and torrential rain. It was quite something. The return journey at one point was through a flooded road. Awful and unseasonably vile.
Finally after months of trying got shoes! My foot is collapsing and l need insoles. Nothing seems to fit but finally got something that fits, is comfortable and also acceptable to my daughters. As one who doesn’t drive l rely on walking…

Congratulations on the big upcoming event.
ReplyDeleteEven thou you manage to squeeze in some wargaming related activities. We are still having very nice weather here and it seems like that calls for more outdoor activities like running trains in the garden or radio controlled boats on the pond. I do have some projects on my workbench for future wargames though.
My plan is to garden or work on the railway when weather is good and do hobby stuff on rainy days.

ReplyDeleteI am intrigued by the Napoleonic Dad’s Army. I’ve read about the various volunteer and Fencible units that were raised and one of Sue’s ancestors was recalled to the colours and served in an Invalid unit. When researching a talk about Rabbie Burns, I discovered that he was a member of the Dumfriesshire Volunteers and was given a military funeral when he died.

Thanks Bob. The Napoleonic dads.army is fascinating. I am very taken by Sir Walter Scott’s local light cavalry and the song he wrote for them “ War song of the Royal Edinburgh Light Dragoons”
