The North

Sunday saw me get a bus to Inverness (changed at Perth) for a funeral. The first part was Sunday with the main part on Monday. I returned by bus again afterwards arriving home early evening.

I taken with the somber, brooding beauty of the misty, rainy hills and then a rainbow heralding brilliant sunshine on Sunday. Monday was dreich indeed and it was quite surreal travelling back in the dark. There was a somber beauty too in funeral service.

I took some photos from the bus and on foot in Inverness, mainly for me to remember the atmosphere. Here they are anyway-

Getting ready for my next non solo game…

My next game is a Very British Civil War game against the Liverpool Free State. I will be using my Swedish Volunteers  ( see this post for background- http://tradgardland.blogspot.com/2021/02/researching-platoon-for-very-british.html ) for the Anglican League.

I decided to add another section, this time from the Swedish Seaman’s Church in London. They are in civilian dress with a yellow and blue armband to show which unit they belong to. I just need to finish off the bases and I am ready…

The Quarter Mike area of restaurants, shops, flats etc built out old hospital buildings from the former Edinburgh Royal Infirmary as well as new buildings.
Excellent exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy at the foot of the Mound. Well worth going to. For those further afield here is a link to the online version-

A wee visit to Warbases

Took a bus to Cairneyhill to the Warbases shop for supplies on Monday morning.

I managed to get all I was needing in the way of bases, paint and varnish-
In the absence of a paper bag the proprietor kindly gave me a Salute bag complete with figure.

If you are in the area it is well worth popping along to see the ranges on display not to mention the friendly and helpful staff.
