Inspired by Bob’s Belle Epoche forces for the Portable Wargame l organised this army from beyond the woods, near the mountains , lakes and forests , a little east of the former Empire and just around the corner from The Duchy of Volare Cantare. The Jazz Age meets The Tambal Age more Hot Club de Carpathia than Paris. The army of Transilvania -
The army consists of regular infantry, militia, bicycle mounted infantry, dismounted cavalry and a small but enthusiastic unit of engineers.
The army on parade-
Five regiments of regular infantry including one machine gun one
Five regiments of local militia
Three of bicycle infantry
Two of dismounted cavalry who had disposed of their horses and traditions and await mechanisation
One of engineers , proud products of the new school of military engineering in the capital
Fine little force Alan - very satisfying to see a fresh box of soldiery already painted, based and ready for action. Do they have an opposition lined up for similar treatment?

ReplyDeleteWonderland are showing the have the WW2 Hungarians (Stalingrad) in stock - same chunky style / designer as are the Germans (Stalingrad) also in stock.

A fine wee army, Alan. I like especially the bicycle brigade - cleverly done. Methinks Czar Constantine LXXVII of Izumrud-Zeleniya would like to set up an embassy in Transilvania's capital...

That's a smart looking army. Nice variety of troops. Well done with the cyclists engineers. Two troop types that are difficult to capture the right feel of.

ReplyDeleteI had to look up Tambal. I guessed it sounded like a percussion instrument from the name but I didn’t picture actually what it was. A splendid little army! Are you planning to add some light armour and artillery? A couple of tankettes would be ideal additions and some mountain guns would provide some highly mobile additional firepower.
