Et maintenant, un petit jeu…

The Swiss , French border 1930s. Things have escalated…

French troops on the march , finding it hard going through the difficult terrain.
French light infantry in their blue uniform advancing.
Support comes in the form of a tank and a machine gun unit.
Chamois’s eye view from his nearby cliff vantage point.
Swiss infantry advancing
Swiss infantry advancing supported by a tank.

The title of this post is the phrase we used when teaching French and moving on from one activity to the next.

Rules used are Memories of ‘34 by the redoubtable Brian Cameron.

Figures and tanks mainly resin printed and bought via Etsy.

  1. Lovely looking Interbellum game Alan - are the rules designed for grids?

    1. Thanks , me too. Each side has six units and an officer who may attach himself to different units offering a bonus in certain situations.

    1. I am rather partial to it too . I don’t have tons but it works really well be it for grid or non grid based gaming.

  5. Nice set up Alan. Actually I'm in Switzerland right now, close to the German border though. I'll write more about it in some future blogposts.

    1. Thanks . Perhaps another option would be to lessen the number of units a side to give more tactical options and use of space.

  8. When someone downsizes their collection it's always interesting to see what gets on the table. A nice niche setting and shiny troops is something i like too.

  10. That's wonderful. Like something out of the pages of Tintin.

  11. This little interbellum clash on the Swiss-French border looks wonderful, especially the way the French light infantry in blue push through such difficult terrain while a tank and machine gun unit come up in support. The chamois's-eye view from the cliff is a lovely touch, and it really does give the whole table a storybook, Tintin-like feel. I also liked learning that Memories of '34 is grid-based, since six units plus an officer who can attach to different units sounds like a neat, flexible force for a small game like this. After admiring a setup like this one, I often unwind with something much lighter, and this Kick the Buddy guide is the quick break I turn to before the next game.
