Just a thought

Putting out my beloved blue coated Chasseurs a Pied for my current game l was thinking about whether designated “Light Infantry “ should be treated differently on the table top by the rules we use. I am thinking of the 1920s and 1930’s. What do you think? If they should be treated differently to ,say line  infantry , what should this look like in rules terms?

  1. Might it be too elementary to suggest that "Light Infantry" have slightly less hitting power (i.e. no heavy weapons) and perhaps move more quickly (i.e. 9 inches rather than say, 6 inches for line infantry). Or another possiblilty is Light Infantry might move with more agility in rough terrain, taking less of a movement penalty? Those with greater gaming experience will doubtless have ideas but maybe this will be a place to start.

  2. I'm not an expert on the period but I would have expected the designation 'Light Infantry' to be a legacy thing and to make no difference to their use. They may however consider themselves a 'cut above'.
