Testing times

I found the jar of figures l had unsuccessfully stripped with brush cleaner-

I then added the new figures prior to adding the Dettol. I will leave them overnight and see what happens.

  1. I should give it a couple of days to work.... and then scrub with washing up liquid but no water.

  4. I should have mentioned, keep the Dettol well away from pets and small children, I know our mum's always used to put a drop in the bathwater when we were small but it is actually quite toxic stuff. After use for stripping paint i usually strain it through a coffee filter into another glass jar to drain all the gunk out so i can reuse what's left.

  5. Thanks Brian. Can you reuse it a few times?

  6. I've used PineSol™ to strip painted minis. I use the actual brand rather than a generic pine cleaner because the generics don't do the job. I'll soak for 24 hours min, and then scrub with a stiff toothbrush. Sometimes I need to rinse and repeat for stubborn spots. I've mentioned my process in a old blog post: https://ilivewithcats.blogspot.com/2016/01/fearsome-boomsticks-of-war.html

  7. Yes, you can use it a good few times, basically until its blacker than black.

Have had great results with this although you can smell it for ages after. Protect table surfaces as well.

    Cheers, Ross

  8. Take care Alan. Some of the old paint will contain lead. Don't flush them into a drain. Parcel up the residue and consign it to landfill.
