En route to seeing friends in Skipton l stopped by the Royal Armouries Leeds. Leeds city centre is full of water and fascinating buildings-
View from inside the Royal Armouries.A most impressive piece of art on the side of a building.
I didn’t have long so I concentrated mainly on the tournament section and the ECW section-
I do like the way that cavalry armour is displayed on horseback, gives a feeling of what it might be like to face a mounted opponent. The look of the whole ensemble really caught my eye.
Tournament armour above and helms below.
Yet another fascinating illustration of a tournament joust with another cool ensemble.
Finally the wonderful Perry figures in the Agincourt diorama!
A brief but enjoyable visit, I’ll be back for sure.
Looks like a place well worth visiting, and also worthy of a return trip!
ReplyDeleteCertainly is! Just missed a demonstration of two handed sword fighting on Friday.

The Armouries are a brilliant venue , but sadly I haven't visited them for years.
ReplyDeleteSurely just a wee day out for you?

Terrifying to face a mounted opponent as a foot soldier I imagine! Wouldn't want to do it now either. Looks like a fun trip and city. Neat diorama too.
ReplyDeleteKind Regards,

Red and buff ECW Cavalry, always inspiring - reminds me of my first proper metal figures, Peter Laing 15mm Roundhead Cavalry https://collectingpeterlaing15mmfigures.wordpress.com/2021/10/22/peter-laing-15mm-english-civil-war-m501-mounted-trooper-in-helmet/
ReplyDeleteGlad to have reminded you of these splendid figures.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the Ladybird book about Oliver Cromwell.
