One really handy blogger thingy is my feed of blogs l follow. It lets me know when folk have posted and it is my custom to read this and the aforementioned mentioned blogs over breakfast each day. It is a routine I have got into and one l enjoy and have done so for years. I admit not every blog gets the same amount of attention, my interest comes and goes and comes around again but it is good to see what others are up to. My fellow bloggers are often generous in their comments , time and otherwise including advice information and where to find it.
This morning l noticed that one of my followers had unfollowed me. It did lead to me wondering why. I don’t thing l have unfollowed anyone over the years. I might not read as attentively at times or have a wee break from certain blogs but l have never unfollowed. I therefore wonder why l am a follower down,
P.s It is not vanity that prompts this post but a niggling sense of why…
I wouldn't feel too badly about it. I keep meaning to prune my reading list to avoid seeing posts about lovely shiny 54mm soldiers so I'm not tempted to buy more when I'm trying to give up that scale. Tastes and interests change.
ReplyDeleteMy reading list is huge and, like you, I don't think I've knowingly unfollowed anyone. But I suspect at least half on the list are now dead or hibernating blogs.
ReplyDeleteI noticed I've lost a follower this weekend as well, same person perhaps?
ReplyDeleteI don't have many followers, so it was quite easy to see that I lost one of them this week as well. Perhaps it might be the same person?
ReplyDeleteI also note that one of the blogs I link to on my own has been removed. Might be related?
Roger, this makes sense. If a blogger as well as blog are deleted, the counter should decrease by one. Which blog was decommissioned?
DeleteKEV's Hobby Site. It seems like it was removed at the same time as there was posted an update on KEV's layout. I still keep a link to it on my blog to see if it returns.
DeleteInteresting! KEV's blog is missing in my feed too.
DeleteYeah, I noticed Kev had posted about a new layout - but when I tried to access the post - the whole blog wasn't there - bit odd?!
DeleteIt looks like KEV has a new blog now. I replaced the link to it on my blog.
Deletehttps://44kr44.blogspot.com/?m=1
I've noticed Followers disappear and then reappear later - could be a system thing??
ReplyDeleteIs it someone not blogging anymore who has therefore removed the links?
ReplyDeleteI have a slightly different, but related problem. I have followed over 500 blogs. I don't get around to them all (naturally). I have a small core of 'regulars' that I visit most often, get to others semi-regularly and the bulk of them from time to time. Like you, I like to use my reading list as a way to see recent updates and to try to get around to as many of the 'active' ones as possible. That has changed recently because, sometime last year, I discovered that I cannot follow any more blogs. Blogger has arbitrarily capped them at 200. Fortunately, my extant list has not been reduced to that figure, but I cannot add any more. I considered stopping following some of those that I rarely visit, but could not bring myself to do it, for the reason that you have stated: it seemed a bit 'dishonourable' and would possibly be seen as a 'cold shoulder' to an e-friend.
Best wishes, James
James, I have exactly the same issue. I have found a way around it however.
DeleteLog into Blogger and click on Reading List, then click Manage, then click Add, and paste a new blog's address into the field.
You will need to check the Reading List for updates instead of your blog's lists, but one can follow new blogs in this manner.
I too have noticed that this Kevs Hobby Site blog has mysteriously disappeared.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn’t take it personally Alan. Jon’s explanation is likely the correct one.

As others have said, its probably an IT issue or someone getting out of the blog field altogether. It does raise the question of followers, as I only have 9, but I like to think they are all discerning individuals with excellent taste! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLooks like KEV has maybe deleted his blog and started again, that may explain it.. I don't worry too much about numbers of followers (currently 52, if you ask!), but it is really interesting to see who is out there and what their blogs look like. I think interacton is most important - I am so pleased to see any comments and they are always friendly, in my experience.
