Game
This is one of my father’s game from his youth. I played it against him when l was a boy but remember nothing of it. Does anyone recognise it?
I will probably try it solo over the coming weeks…
I've never seen this game or something similar to it earlier. The boar it self resembles 'Stratego' and it gives a vibe of 'Portable Wargame' with paper 'top-downs'. This is a very nice legacy after your father and it must be good memories playing it with him when you was kid.
I had the later Waddington "Campaign " which was Napoleonic themed with six "countries " ....but it was quite different to what we can see in your dad's game.
I remember the Waddington's game of the same name. It's on Amazon for £28. Some differences though it may have been to sold to them at a later date
ReplyDeleteI had that and recall it being a different game entirely, maybe incorrectly.

ReplyDeleteIt does have a nice retro vibe as well as memories, win win in my book.

Never heard of this game before. A quick search on BGG shows this is a game from 1935. Great find!
ReplyDeleteHad it in the family since 1935 l guess.

An interesting looking game and board; this game is printed by Wills and Hepworth of Loughborough also produced the Ladybird Books!
ReplyDeleteA fascinating fact, thanks for that.

It looks like an early version of the game Bob Cordery discusses in use with his Portable Wargame.

Hmm might be, not sure. I fear they just share a name.

Even if you never play it's certainly a work of art worth taking out and viewing.
ReplyDeleteSo very true.
