Books !

There have been lots of books coming into the Ducal library of late , even by my standards. On my return these were waiting for me.

Naval and Military Press had a sale recently and I snapped up some facsimile Home Guard pamphlets. They look fascinating and full of insights into the times plus gaming ideas.

The above was recommended by a fellow guide, looks interesting on first glance and was purchased relatively cheaply second hand.

  1. An excellent haul of training manuals, which will inform your games and scenarios. I resisted the sales as I have some originals by these interesting authors that I have not used up sufficiently in games.

Ominous publisher’s name - Black Dog Publishing!

    1. Ominous indeed! I am fascinated by the mix of very practical advice and speculation regarding how to organise to fight as in the parachute volume.

  4. Interesting looking collection of books. Intrigued by the range of guides. Look like something the keen Home Guard officer would be reading.
And the decorated school book has got me wondering.

  5. There were lots more in the sale but l tried not to go crazy. Full of period flavour and practical good advice. The decorated school is a collection of essays about a whole range in time and space of schools and art. It is really interesting. Howard has written other interesting stuff such as this-
