Who’s zoomin who?
My blog title refers to a song I recall by Aretha Franklin from 1985. The phrase refers to , I believe, checking people out. Anyway a long winded introduction to how Zoom plays a part in my lockdown hobby. I am playing regularly DBA with my long term opponents now again. Yesterday saw a 28mm game between fifteenth century Swiss & Burgundians. Pike, plate armoured knights, bombards , bows and more. The game swung back and forth and was most exciting. Eventually my Swiss won. We played on a 4foot square area, which worked well camera wise. This has become a weekly feature.
The other weekly feature is Phil Olley’s Virtual Wargames Club https://philswarcabinet.blogspot.com/2020/06/an-international-brigade.html
Follow the above link to read about the venture. It has been great putting faces and voices to fellow bloggers and the chat is both enjoyable and inspiring. It is good to see other areas of the hobby.

What I am working on...
Here are a couple of things on the workbench. Firstly 1/32 ancients, HaT and Italaeri . I am enjoying painting the bigger scale figures and doing simple conversions to them like swopping heads and repositioning arms etc. Unlike the HaT 20mm figures these are a descent rigidity of plastic and paint goes on well to them.
The garden railway has stalled on some fronts, for example I am still awaiting the track I ordered a month ago and Inreally ought to contact them. The scenery is moving forward however and I am pleased with the resin buildings I am working on. They have begun to come together well.Thursday, 11 June 2020
Celt v Greek Portable Wargame
Rainy day in the Duchy and I was browsing through “ Armies of the Macedonian and Punic Wars “ by Duncan Head ( bought by me 10/1/83 and used ever since) when I came upon on page 71 a description of the Galatian invasion of Greece in 279 BC. This campaign pitted Celtic warriors against mainly Greek skirmishers and a few hoplites. Something different I thought and set up the first of a few scenarios using the Ancient Portable Wargame rules. Here is the set up-
Battle report later. Here is a link to an article about the campaign-
