Tradgardland pikemen of the Thirty Years War

I pondered upon the comments left at my last post (thank you for your suggestions)  and have just finished (hence undried glue) basing my pikemen. I have gone with nine figures on a 50mm square base, I think it improves the look and better suggests a dense mass of pikemen-
Next I will work on the basing/painting of the shot...

  1. They look good. I find pike blocks are always a knotty problem. For my ECW armies, I vary the numbers on the base a bit to suggest varying recruitment and attrition results.

  2. Any idea which side Tradgardland was on in TYW?

  3. The 3 x 3 figure arrangement looks good. Like a nice tight block of pike.

  4. Nicely done, 9 gives the feel of a block. I do the same for my 40mm Pike&Shot units.

  5. The combination of colours and pikes is both aesthetically pleasing and an economical way of suggesting massed ranks. Well done! Arthur

  6. "Fiat Lux" - Love it! I should have "Fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum" on my troops' flags, since I lose so often.
