Fundamentals for the Forty Five?
Currently trying to write a one page set of rules for the ‘45. Here’s where you come in... What essential or fundamental aspects of the fighting in the Jacobite campaign of 1745 are needed to be considered when writing a set of rules for this period?
The rules from yesterday’s game.
Here are the rules I scribbled down quickly before yesterday’s game. They worked fine but need a little tweaking.

Battle!
This is the first game to be set up on the Theatrum Mundi for ages. I have cleared the papers, books and inhaler spacer away thus freeing up the space. I have gone for a gridded game to save measuring etc. Here is the start where Albion Guards take on Light Infantry and Volunteers...

1930’s Albion Flying Corps
Albion’s finest here just off the painting table. Some are in pith helmets back from warmer climes. The Albion Flying Corps ( A.F.C) are in a mix of uniforms, some in puttees and some in trousers. They include a machine gunner, bomber and rifle armed figures for defending airfields as well as ground crew.

Woodland walking
I haven’t been up the woods for ages , sort of got out of the habit. So l went up there today and explored another part of them. I was taken with the information boards and felt they would certainly add to the experience of walkers. Some pictures:
The Hundred: what say you?
Much to my surprise I have been really enjoying the Hundred. I wasn’t sure before it started but it has won me over, no pun intended. Different in feel from other formats but very engaging. Still love to listen to Test and County matches on the wireless though.

Blind Hugh : he’s part of the punt gun crew.
Here are the punt gun crew, members of the Albion rural militia. Blind Hugh helps his friend , Albert, to carry the punt gun into position, whereupon Albert fires it. They have worked together for years.

15 & 35 or a Great Day out!
Tuesday saw me having a splendid trip to the seaside domain of Ronnie Cobham ( of Fife &Drum forum and vwc. Fame, not to mention commentator on the Tradgardland blog ) for my first face to face Wargame in fifteen months and his in thirty five years! A great day indeed and thanks to him and his wife for their hospitality too.
We were trialling Willz’s One Side Of A4 Rules with some spontaneous add ons by ourselves. It was a chance to use Ronnie’s splendid 1745 collection. The game was played on a dining room table and was great fun. I commanded the Jacobites and managed to facilitate their defeat. An enjoyable time was had and we are resolved to do it again soon. In the meantime here are some photos-

Repairs completed and a challenge ahead.
Worked on these figures today. I hammered nails into Mdf bases as supports and bent one as the leg of a running figure. I decided not to add tape to the leg but leave the nail visible to show the repair. They will fight together as a unit along with the two cavalry figures which will be quite a challenge.

What’s wrong with the world.
Let me tell you what is wrong with the world, I use it as a dumping ground! Let me explain, my Theatrum Mundi, my wee gaming place has become neglected. It has become a place to dump correspondence needing attention, books I am reading and a place where l just lay stuff down on! Plans are afoot to remedy this situation and to make the space available to have a solo game on which can be kept up a number of days. Thus allowing me to enjoy the look of the thing, plan my next move and return to the situation as it was before with a rolling programme of games going on. Here it is this morning, hopefully to be sorted in the coming days.

My heart’s in the Highlands...
I have not been in Inverness since the mid eighties but am glad to be here albeit very briefly for a celebration. The train journey is through glorious country and I had forgotten just how stunning it is. Managed to have time to pop into Inverness Art Gallery and Museum as well as a vast second hand bookshop in an old church. I hope to return soon.
My name is Bucca , I don’t live on the second floor
I have become interested in this set of no dice fantasy rules and the world it is set in-

I started on the figure of a Bucca yesterday with his net to catch victims with. Having read recently of the size that goldfish can grow to if they are released into the wild l gave him the paint job below-

The Glen and The Palace
Yesterday saw me catching up with old friends in the Glen. I walked there via Dunfermline Palace where, amongst others, Charles l was born. Here are a few pictures l took including signage for the pilgrim route.
