This interesting box arrived today inside some less interesting but practical packaging. I am passing it onto my eldest who likes such old things but the contents are mine. Here are some pictures- the box , some RAF figures ( the putee uniform figures have a faint blue paint tinge to them hence my hunch ) and some civilians which are really charming.

Curious (German? Composition?) Seated Figure bottom right.
The box was an unexpected delight and our eyes pounced on the LMS label too. The curious composition figure may be 1930s German I am wondering. The Naval Officer’s telescope pose suddenly came to me when I saw him , he will be fun to repair. I like the young Shepherd with lantern particularly not to mention the lamb bearers. I intend to give many of the figures rifles and use them as an irregular force, the Land rises against invaders , something like that but we will see...
DeleteAt the moment the naval officer looks like he is putting up for a bare knuckle fight! I will see if I can recognise any more makers for you over the next day or two.

ReplyDeleteQuite agree. As my other pictures will show some of the hollow casts are really battered and need quite a bit of work but looking forward to the challenge.

Stephen, these figures have had a busy time until now probably followed by a long attic rest. I feel they deserve a chance to be played with, sorry gamed with, again. There are lots of spare parts available and the potentially of creating something new. Also in these strange days there is a self social prescribing element to this, it engages the hands and the mind ( in terms of creative solutions required to problems) not to mention being fun. Why not give it a go yourself?
