Taking things forward

Had a useful day online researching yesterday in California virtually speaking, California dreaming on this almost winter’s day so to speak.Figures moving forward too. Never seem to buy enough heads and of the right sort. Message to self - be more accurate in the next order planning wise.

  1. Allan, love that photo, the white belts are distinct from Regular units, but difficult to tell whether the facings are light blue or red, both were popular with NG units.

    1. Thanks, it is a great photo insnt it. Filled with so much character. You can imagine it breaking into life and them being dismissed back to their tents...

  2. Did you know there is a village in Scotland named California? Not far from Falkirk. :) (former "pit village" according to the internet, whatever a pit village is)

I am originally from the US state of California, but Oregon is my home these days (I love cool rainy weather).

    1. I did Fitzbadger. I lived and worked in Falkirk over thirty years ago and as a non driver I spent time daily in Falkirk bus station. I always enjoyed seeing the buses with “California “ on their destinations board at the front and them coming in and out. I thought it great fun.
You would so like Scotland if that is your weather of choice! Do you know the word DREICH?

    3. I may have encountered that word, dreich. I have visited Scotland a few times and love it. According to genetics I'm about half Scottish and my mother has talked about her grandfather and his Scottish burr, so I suppose I have some roots there (as far as I have been able to find out some ancestors came from Edinburgh).

Pit/mine makes sense. So it was a mining village.
