Not much happening on the hobby front here in the Duchy. I developed a UTI which has left me feeling like doing very little at all.. Medication is helping but I am on such a variety of tablets and powders that l feel a tad nauseous much of the time.. Hobby projects surround me but I have little or no desire to do anything like that.
I have however been enjoying Patrick O’Brian on Audible , Father Brown ( played by Andrew Sacs) on BBC Sounds as well as the podcasts Zero Ducks Given and Off Menu.
I have been, as ever, captivated by the birds that come to the garden. During the first Lockdown they became important for me and the interest hasn’t waned since. It is the big garden bird watch this weekend and not too late to sign up-

Hopefully some hobby news next time…
I hope you're feeling better soon. You'll know you're better when your mojo for the hobby returns!

I knew the antibiotics were kicking in when I became interested in stuff once again. Health Problems solved equals Mojo return or at least a sense of moving forward on both fronts.

Hope your feeling better soon - take it easy now.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tony , I will.

Tradgardmastare,
ReplyDeleteI hope that you feel better soon. I’m full of cold at the moment … and it’s the worst I’ve had in an age. I’m getting by listening to recordings of Tony Robinson reading Discworld stories, which I find very relaxing,
All the best,
Bob
I do hope the cold gets better soon. I really enjoyed “ The Hogfather” and “ The colour of Magic” but l regret l haven’t got into the others , though I have tried. Finding something relaxing and engaging is the key. Tony Robinson does a splendid job I’ll venture.

Bad time of year to feel so down - we all need a few days of sunshine. Glad you've found a few things to enjoy and hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks, sun does help doesn’t it as well as the absence of rain.

After some weeks in the doldrums (bad back and cold) I am perking up and wielding a brush for the first time in 10 months. It does get better!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it and thanks for the encouraging words.

My Great Garden Bird Watch usually consists of a lot of Great and Blue Tits and a pair of exceptionally fat wood pigeons. Off Menu is very good... I must give the other one a listen
ReplyDeleteMainly sparrows here, with some blue tits and odds/n sods.
DeleteBtw “ We have ways of making you talk “ about ww2 with Al Murray is one l discovered yesterday and is well worth a listen.

Hopefully you come right soon and can reduce the chemical intake, which is probably what is robbing you of any enthusiasm for anything.
ReplyDeleteThanks, the “kicking in” of the antibiotics made a difference but in the scale of things I can’t really complain too much.

Sorry to hear that, Alan. Drugs unfortunately so often have unpleasant side effects and this may well be that. Good that you've found relaxing listening to enjoy, though, to help tide you over. We plan to do the Big Garden Bird Watch too. Like you we find it enthralling to watch and enjoy the birds in our garden.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for a speedy recovery,
David.
It is certainly tiding me over David . I have been working my way through “ Garden Birds” by Mike Toms of late which is filled with much fascinating information . Only my second ever serious natural history read ( the first being the one on Tits in the same series) but I am really enjoying it. Hope your Garden Bird Watch went well.

Glad you enjoyed a gentle bit of birdwatching - we did this Birdwatch as well, just a few of the usual suspects that we feed daily (the others were probably distracted away elsewhere on this bonanza food weekend).
ReplyDeleteAll the chatty “Tweet of the day” episodes are available on Radio 4 - https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01s6xyk
Thanks for the heads up re “Tweet of the Day” and l am glad to hear your usual suspects are part of the results.

Hope you are feeling better soon...sounds nasty:(
ReplyDeleteGetting there but it has knocked the wind from my sails a tad.

Hope you're better soon, Alan. We did the big birdwatch at our village community woodland - over 20 species!
ReplyDeleteAn impressive tally indeed. It is a great thing to be involved in.
