Lakes

I am enjoying a few days in the Lake District. Yesterday enjoyed having a wander around the Roman Fort at Ambleside. Today walked over Loughrigg, had a splendid scone and coffee in “Chester’s” in Skelwith bridge. After that l walked to the Windermere ferry via Skelwith Fold, Low Wray and the lakeside. It was through glorious country. Couldn’t help thinking that the area would make a super basis for an imagi nation or even historical gaming. While on the Fells a big RAF recon plane flew near and when on the lake a fighter appeared from no where and flew very low. Probably Kendal tomorrow...

    I visited the Ambleside Fort and thought it quite well interpreted for a series of low walls among the grass.

    Those names bring back childhood memories, staying at Fellfoot park on Windermere. Have a splendid rest of the holiday.

    Think my grandson will be more impressed by a plane circling overhead rather than some bigger kids in a dinghy. Then again if a monster truck rumbled by he would be fair chuffed.

    Your family will love the experience. There is a splendidly old school pitch n putt and crazy golf that reminds me of my childhood. I think the boat rides on the lake will suit him too.
