Airfix diorama and sundry adverts.

I saw this and thought you all might enjoy the article and adverts.

As a teenager I was lucky to get given some Rose Miniatures to paint. I had a Gaul/Celt standing in a relaxed way and a couple of others I cannot recall .I enjoyed looking through the range and catalogue in the Toy Tub Raeburn Place, Stockbridge, Edinburgh.

Minifigs of that rare and ancient breed, lovely

  1. Magazines back them had a lot more 'stuff' in them those days .

    1. I know exactly what you mean. I find lots of articles dealing with things at a superficial level or just eye candy/adverts.

  2. Hi Alan- long ago I use to look for hours at the AIRFIX Catalogue - seems I managed to collect some ACW and Napoleonics in OO/HO Scale- a lot of good memories- I had French WW1 and dug trenches for them behind Dad's Shed...always playing. Cheers. KEV.

    1. Airfix brings back our youth for so many of us. Perhaps the current strange says will mean that more folk are doing kits than there has been for a long while.

  3. Totally agree with magazines having more 'stuff' in them when I was younger - always full of ideas that I hoped to emulate. It was a 1971 article by Charles Grant that started my wargaming journey.

    1. Which article was it? The Airfix figure conversion ones were a great encouragement then and now. I was looking out some Japanese to use as Italians yesterday.
