Grading the Napoleonic troops.
I use a simple colour code for the units/ commanders - White is Average, Purple is for Elite Units and Good Commanders. Finally Green for Poor. It is easy to see the grade of a unit at a glance. See examples in photo below-
I think I need to do something similar with my 6mm SYW, especially the Prussian grenadiers and fusiliers, which at that scale are very difficult to tell apart.
I went down this route to add character to the army. After all if I change my mind all that is necessary to do is print out another label and glue it on top. Now I could do that with units that need to have their grade improved or diminished due to battlefield performance...

DeleteThe problem with permanently assigning a morale grade to a unit is that you then can't change it for a particular scenario.
