Took the train from Copenhagen to Malmo this Monday morning for a day trip. Last time l went to Malmo was with Jan by boat circa 1991. Now of course Sweden is a train ride away instead. Lovely town Malmo with buildings just crying out to be photographed-
Returning to Copenhagen pm saw a visit to the Danish War museum where I picked these up for around a tenner-
Excellent Museum and excellent purchase content and price wise.
Bra!

Lol....I noticed the use of "braw" by Swedes or Finns (can't remember which) whilst watching some Netflix police series recently! Struck me at the time, as it's the colloquial word for "good" in the part of Scotland I was brought up in too....along with kirk for church and steen for stone etc.
ReplyDeleteThat’ll be the Swedes Keith. I noticed it too on one of those police programmes! Thought I’d heard it in Scots dialect too. Considering the Swedish for ‘police’ (polis) it can sometimes sound like an episode of Taggart 😉

Looks a great trip - and useful books too! Does that building in the 2nd-to-last pic have a touch of the Rennie MacIntosh?
ReplyDeleteIt does indeed , I agree.

An enjoyable looking trip. Like the look of the books too; is that one on flags and standards well illustrated? I can't find much about it on the 'Net. It's not easily available anywhere else, it seems...
ReplyDeleteCheers,
David.
It is pretty well illustrated. The Tojhusmuseet shop has a good selection of books and booklets. I would agree that their stock is often only available there , perhaps online via the museum. The book is well illustrated.
