This book arrived today and looks interesting. I was keen to see where Neil Thomas began his journey. I have set up a game with units of 4 figures or one gun. I decided to try out a Norwegian v Swedish battle. I was also keen to see what the river was like on the winter terrain, jury is out.
Norwegian line in red, light infantry in green, ski troops in blue and a unit of civilian volunteers on the far right flank in their winter dress. Swedes are in blue.
I hope to play a few turns in the next day or two…
Be interesting to see how this one pans out, I think the river works well on the winter table.
ReplyDeleteThe table looks great Tradgardmastare! I like the wintry backdrop and the river. Enjoy the game
ReplyDeleteA beautifully snowy terrain, the river works well … I wish you joy of your winter skirmish.
ReplyDeleteI shall look forward to seeing this played through. The book is the one I used for the ECW scenarios played at my brother's earlier in the year. The rules differ from the ones for the same period in a different book of Neil's. [I don't have any of his books myself].
ReplyDeleteMerry christmas to you, your kith and kin and all your readers.
Stephen
Lovely setup! Great scenario for a Skirmish!!
ReplyDeleteThe Norwegian ski-troops were 'blue' to easier blend in with the Swedes, as they operated behind enemy lines.
I thin your river looks the part here.
This kind of reminds me of a bettle close to where I live, and the very last battle between Swedes and Norwegians; The Battle for Kjølberg Bridge August 1814. Then Norwegian and Swedish forces were separated by a small river too.
It looks good. You could put a little snow on the river banks - a bit of talc, perhaps - to blend them in more?
ReplyDeleteI was reading the very same book this morning with a view to setting up a WW2 set to using the rules in the book ...
